Prayer Times and Ramadan Calendar

Prayer times change every day depending on geographic location and season. The fajr prayer times for Istanbul and Diyarbakır can differ by up to 40 minutes. This tool calculates the six core prayer times for your chosen city and date using astronomical formulas, and also shows a countdown to the next Ramadan.

This tool is for informational purposes only. For religious obligations, use the official imsakiye and prayer times published by the Diyanet (Presidency of Religious Affairs). Calculated times may deviate from actual times by ±5 minutes.

How to Use

Required Inputs

  • City; determines the latitude and longitude used in the calculation
  • Date; today is selected by default; you can change it

Ramadan Countdown

The tool automatically shows whether you are currently in Ramadan or how many days until the next Ramadan based on your current date. During Ramadan, you can also see the day count and remaining fasting days.

The Meaning of the 6 Prayer Times

Imsak (Fajr)Fajr — the moment the sun is 18° below the horizon. The time when fasting begins.
SunriseThe moment the sun rises. The end time for the morning prayer.
Dhuhr (Noon)The moment the sun is at its highest point (midday).
AsrThe time when an object's shadow equals its height (Shafi calculation).
Maghrib (Sunset)Sunset; the time for the evening prayer and iftar (breaking fast).
IshaThe moment the sun is 17° below the horizon; the day ends.

How Are Prayer Times Calculated?

Prayer times are calculated using astronomical formulas based on the sun's angle relative to the horizon. This calculator uses parameters close to the Shafi school method used by the Diyanet: −18° for Imsak/Fajr and −17° for Isha. Sunrise and sunset are determined relative to the 0° point at the horizon.

Ramadan 1447 AH (2026)

Ramadan 1447 AH is expected to begin on 18 February 2026 and end on 19 March 2026. Exact dates may vary by ±1–2 days depending on moon sighting. Since Ramadan falls during the winter-to-spring transition this year, days will be lengthening rapidly and fasting durations may reach 12–13 hours in southern regions.

Tips for Accurate Times

  1. Selecting the nearest major city gives an approximate result for smaller settlements, but error may increase for cities at different latitudes.
  2. Compare with Diyanet times; this tool is a reliable reference but is not an official source.
  3. In high-altitude cities (such as Erzurum and Van) there may be small deviations in sun angle calculations.
  4. When travelling, select a different city to adjust times for your current location.

Frequently Asked Questions

Diyanet publishes official times with local adjustments added to astronomical calculations. This tool uses live astronomy formulas; a deviation of ±5 minutes is normal.
