Current Prayer Times for Your City

Prayer times depend on the sun's position relative to your latitude and longitude, so they differ for every city and every day. There can be up to 50 minutes difference between Fajr times in Istanbul and Van. This tool instantly shows the six daily prayer times for 80+ cities in Turkey using astronomical calculations.

This tool is for informational purposes only. For religious obligations, please follow the official prayer times published by the Diyanet. Calculated times may deviate ±5 minutes from actual times.

How to Read Prayer Times?

Fajr (Imsak)The moment the sun is 18° below the horizon. Start of the fast and the morning prayer.
SunriseThe moment the sun appears on the horizon. End of the morning prayer window.
Dhuhr (Noon)The moment the sun reaches its zenith; the noon prayer can be performed from this time until dusk.
Asr (Afternoon)When the shadow equals the object's length (Shafi'i); in Hanafi it doubles the object's length.
Maghrib (Sunset)The moment the sun dips below the horizon. Iftar and the evening prayer begin.
Isha (Night)When the sun drops to −17° below the horizon. The last prayer of the day.

Why Do Prayer Times Vary by City?

Because the sun moves from east to west, cities in the east (Erzurum, Ağrı) receive light earlier than western cities (İzmir, Çanakkale). Turkey spans roughly 13° of longitude east to west, creating up to 50 minutes of difference between cities at opposite ends of the country. Seasonal variation also shifts times by an average of 2–4 minutes per day.

How to Use

City Selection

Select your city or the city you are curious about from the city list in the tool. Once selected, prayer times are automatically calculated based on that city's latitude and longitude coordinates.

Changing the Date

The default date is today. Select a future or past date in the date field to see times for that day — useful for holiday planning or looking up a historically significant day.

Calculation Method

Times are calculated using astronomical equations based on the sun's angle relative to the horizon. The widely used Diyanet / Shafi'i parameters are applied: −18° for Fajr and −17° for Isha. The Asr calculation uses the Shafi'i standard (shadow equals object length); in the Hanafi school Asr is approximately 30–60 minutes later.

Tips for Tracking Prayer Times

  1. The Diyanet app or the call to prayer from mosques provides the officially adjusted time for your area; this tool can be used for checking and planning purposes.
  2. Daylight saving time has varied in Turkey over the years; the UTC+3 time in this tool is calculated according to the permanent standard in effect since 2016.
  3. For small districts, select the nearest provincial centre; between neighbouring cities with less than 0.3° latitude difference, the time gap is usually under 1 minute.
  4. While travelling, select your destination city to track prayer times along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Because the sun's position changes daily, prayer times shift accordingly. In summer, days are longer so Fajr is earlier and Isha is later; the opposite applies in winter.
