Annual Paid Leave Calculator

Enter your hire date to calculate the paid annual leave days you are entitled to under Turkey's Labor Law.

This tool is for information only and does not replace legal advice. It follows the annual leave rules of Turkey's Labor Law (İş Kanunu, 4857): 14 days for 1 to 5 years of tenure (5 included), 20 days for more than 5 and less than 15 years, 26 days for 15 years or more. Workers aged 18 or younger, or 50 or older, get at least 20 days regardless of tenure. Check your employer's policy and ask an employment lawyer for your own case.

How Are Annual Leave Days Set Under Turkey's Labor Law?

Under Article 53 of Labor Law No. 4857, paid annual leave is tied directly to an employee's tenure at the workplace. Annual leave is a constitutional right to rest. It cannot be waived even with the employee's consent and cannot be cashed out while employment continues.

1 to 5 Years of Tenure (14 Days)

An employee who completes a full year at the workplace, including the probation period, is entitled to a minimum of 14 paid leave days per year. This rate applies every year until the end of the fifth year.

More Than 5 and Less Than 15 Years (20 Days)

For employees who complete five full years at the same workplace, the entitlement expands. From the sixth year through the fourteenth, the minimum paid annual leave is 20 days per year. At 15 full years it rises to 26 days.

15 or More Years of Tenure (26 Days)

Long-tenured employees who complete 15 full years with the same employer must legally receive at least 26 paid annual leave days every year.

Special Age-Based Exceptions for Annual Leave

The Labor Law also includes special leave rules that protect specific age groups regardless of tenure. These positive-protection rules are designed to safeguard the physical and mental wellbeing of very young and older workers.

Minimum Leave for Workers Aged 18 or Under and 50 or Over

If the worker is 18 or younger, or 50 or older, the annual paid leave cannot be less than 20 days, even when tenure is just one year.

Legal Framework for Annual Leave Rights

In Turkey, the right to annual paid leave is governed by Article 53 of Labour Law No. 4857. Employees who have worked for at least one year with the same employer are entitled to this right. Leave duration increases progressively with seniority; minimum leave periods set by law are higher for workers aged 18 or younger and 50 or older.

Annual Leave Duration by Seniority

Under Labour Law No. 4857, 1 to 5 years of seniority (5 included) earns 14 working days, more than 5 and less than 15 years earns 20 working days, and 15 or more years earns at least 26 working days of annual leave. Collective or individual employment contracts may set more leave than these minimums, but not less.
