Convert Any Date to Roman Numerals

Roman numerals are the most elegant way to make dates look more aesthetic, classic and mysterious. With this tool you can instantly convert any modern date (DD/MM/YYYY) into Roman numeral format (e.g. XIV.V.MMXXVI). A reference table for this format — frequently used in film credits, inscriptions and jewellery design — is also included on the page.

Use for Tattoo and Jewellery Designs

Roman numerals are especially popular for tattoos marking birth dates, wedding days or important milestones in your life. Our tool provides a reliable reference before any permanent design by delivering an accurate conversion.

How Are Roman Numerals Read?

The basic symbols are: I (1), V (5), X (10), L (50), C (100), D (500) and M (1000). A smaller numeral placed to the left of a larger one is subtracted (IV = 4), while one placed to the right is added (VI = 6). In date conversions, the day, month and year are each converted separately and joined with a dot (·).

Historical Documents and Architecture

You can use this converter to understand the Roman numerals you often encounter on the facades of old buildings or in the introductions of historical books. Not only can you convert forward, but you can also reverse-convert from Roman numerals back to a standard date, quickly decoding the meaning of a date in a historical document.
