A US or UK 34C is a 75C in EU sizing and a 90C in French sizing. This bra size conversion chart shows how the two parts of a bra size line up between countries. Band numbers are inches in the US and UK and centimeters in the EU, and cup letters match through D, then split. A UK or US DD is an EU E.
Every conversion here is approximate, because brands cut their bras differently, so confirm the result with the brand's own chart before you order. Measuring yourself and finding sister sizes are covered by the bra size calculator. This page converts a size you already know.
How to convert a US or UK bra size to EU and French sizes
Converting a bra size takes two lookups, one for the band and one for the cup. The steps below work for any size on the charts further down.

- Find the US or UK band number in the band chart and read the EU number in the same row. For a French size, add 15 to the EU number.
- Keep the cup letter if it is A, B, C or D. For anything larger, find the letter in the cup chart, because UK, US and EU letters differ after D.
- Compare the result with the brand's size chart, since conversions vary between brands.
A 34C therefore becomes 75C in the EU (band 34 is 75, cup C stays C) and 90C in France (75 + 15). The charts were checked against Freya's international size guide and Triumph's EU, FR and UK size chart.
Converting an EU size such as 75C
Converting EU to US bra size works in reverse with the same charts. A tag that says 75C is a US 34C, so 75C in US bra size terms is 34C. The UK size is also 34C and the French size is 90C. To get the US and UK band, find 75 in the EU column of the band chart and read the number in the first column.
Bra band size conversion chart
The chart pairs each US and UK band number with its EU, French, Australian and Italian equivalent. US and UK band numbers are identical. The values come from the formula explained below and match three published tables row by row.
| US and UK | EU | France | Australia and New Zealand | Italy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 28 | 60 | 75 | 6 | 0 |
| 30 | 65 | 80 | 8 | 1 |
| 32 | 70 | 85 | 10 | 2 |
| 34 | 75 | 90 | 12 | 3 |
| 36 | 80 | 95 | 14 | 4 |
| 38 | 85 | 100 | 16 | 5 |
| 40 | 90 | 105 | 18 | 6 |
| 42 | 95 | 110 | 20 | 7 |
| 44 | 100 | 115 | 22 | 8 |
| 46 | 105 | 120 | 24 | 9 |
| 48 | 110 | 125 | 26 | 10 |
Two inches is about 5 cm (5.08 cm), which is why the EU number rises by 5 each time the US and UK number rises by 2. Converting a bra band size from cm to inches is not enough on its own, because the US and UK label is not your underbust measurement in inches. A 75 cm band is about 29.5 inches, yet the label reads 34. The "underbust plus 4" method that Wikipedia describes accounts for that shift, and it generally applies only to US and UK sizes. To convert a centimeter measurement to inches yourself, use the length converter.
French, Italian and Australian bands
French bra size conversion is the simplest band rule. France, Belgium and Spain use a band exactly 15 higher than the EU band, so an EU 75 is a French 90. Cup letters are the same as in the EU. Italy uses small numbers: divide the EU band by 5 and subtract 12, which gives 0 for EU 60 and 3 for EU 75. Italian sizes are often written in Roman numerals. Australia and New Zealand use dress-size style numbers, and Freya's chart lists UK 34 as Australian 12. Australian cup letters vary by brand, so they are left out of the cup chart below.
Bra cup size conversion chart
Cup letters are the same in the US, UK and EU through D, and the three systems split after that. UK and US sizing double some letters (DD, FF), while EU and French sizing runs through the alphabet one letter at a time. The chart lines up cups of roughly the same volume, and all three sources agree on the pairing.
| UK | US | EU and France |
|---|---|---|
| A | A | A |
| B | B | B |
| C | C | C |
| D | D | D |
| DD | DD | E |
| E | DDD | F |
| F | G | G |
| FF | H | H |
| G | I | I |
| GG | J | J |
Read each row as one cup in three spellings. US brands often print the same cup under two names, such as DD/E or DDD/F, so the label on the tag may not match the US column exactly.
UK and US cups after DD
Bra cup sizes after DD are where UK vs US bra sizes differ most. A US 34DD and a UK 34DD are the same size, and converting a US 34DD to EU bra size gives 75E. In Freya's chart the UK sequence runs D, DD, E, F, FF, G, while its US sequence runs D, DD, DDD, G, H. Wikipedia lists the same US steps as DD/E, DDD/F and DDDD/G. That puts a US DDD at the same cup as a UK E and an EU F. A US G equals a UK F and an EU G.
The letter E is the main trap. In some US brands E is another name for DD, and in others it is the cup after DD. Check the brand's chart whenever you see an E or F on a US tag.
Why EU letters run ahead
The EU alphabet has no double letters, so the cup after D is E where UK sizing has DD. Triumph's chart pairs an EU 70E with a UK 32DD and an EU 70G with a UK 32F. There is also a difference in step size. According to Wikipedia, US and UK sizing adds one cup per inch of difference between bust and band, while other systems add one per 2 cm. The gap between the systems grows as cups get larger.
Common bra sizes in US, UK, EU and French sizing
The table converts US and UK bands 30 to 42 into EU and French sizes. Each cell shows the EU size first and the French size second. The last two columns use different letters in the UK and the US, so both are named in the header.
| US and UK band | A | B | C | D | DD | E (UK), DDD (US) | F (UK), G (US) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 30 | 65A / 80A | 65B / 80B | 65C / 80C | 65D / 80D | 65E / 80E | 65F / 80F | 65G / 80G |
| 32 | 70A / 85A | 70B / 85B | 70C / 85C | 70D / 85D | 70E / 85E | 70F / 85F | 70G / 85G |
| 34 | 75A / 90A | 75B / 90B | 75C / 90C | 75D / 90D | 75E / 90E | 75F / 90F | 75G / 90G |
| 36 | 80A / 95A | 80B / 95B | 80C / 95C | 80D / 95D | 80E / 95E | 80F / 95F | 80G / 95G |
| 38 | 85A / 100A | 85B / 100B | 85C / 100C | 85D / 100D | 85E / 100E | 85F / 100F | 85G / 100G |
| 40 | 90A / 105A | 90B / 105B | 90C / 105C | 90D / 105D | 90E / 105E | 90F / 105F | 90G / 105G |
| 42 | 95A / 110A | 95B / 110B | 95C / 110C | 95D / 110D | 95E / 110E | 95F / 110F | 95G / 110G |
A 36B, for example, is an 80B in the EU and a 95B in France. A 34DD is 75E in the EU and 90E in France. Sizes beyond the table follow the same two charts.
Converting EU and French sizes to US and UK
To go the other way, start with the band. For a French size, subtract 15 first. A French 95D becomes EU 80D, and EU 80 is a US and UK 36, so the size is 36D. A cup letter above D comes from the cup chart: an EU 70F is a UK 32E and a US 32DDD. An EU 85G is a UK 38F and a US 38G.
How the conversion chart was calculated
The band chart follows a formula published by Bratabase and reproduces the same results by a second route:
- US and UK band = 2 × (EU band ÷ 5 + 2). For EU 75, that is 2 × (15 + 2) = 34.
- The same result comes from converting the EU band to inches (divide by 2.54), rounding to the nearest even number, and adding 4. For EU 75, 75 ÷ 2.54 = 29.5, which rounds to 30, and 30 + 4 = 34.
- French band = EU band + 15. Italian band = EU band ÷ 5 − 12. Australian band = UK band − 22.
The tables were generated by a script from these rules. The band rows match Freya's 60 to 100 columns for the UK, US, France and Australia. They also match Triumph's 70 to 100 rows for the EU, France and the UK, and Wikipedia's band table from EU 60 to 110. The cup pairings match Freya's B to J columns and Triumph's A to H rows.
Why conversions are approximate
No international standard governs bra sizes across countries. Wikipedia notes that manufacturers cut their bras differently, so two 34B bras from two companies may not fit the same person. Bratabase makes the same point, that there is no single real "UK", "US" or "EU" sizing. A cup letter also depends on the band, so a C on a 70 band is a different volume from a C on a 90 band.
Use the conversion as a starting point and check the brand's own size guide, which often lists several countries side by side, as Triumph's and Freya's do. If the brand's chart disagrees with this one, follow the brand. If you fall between two sizes, sister sizes keep the same cup volume with a band one step up and a cup one step down. The bra size calculator includes a sister size table for common bras.
