What Time Is It Around the World?

Before you call a business partner, friend or relative on another continent, you need to know what time it is there. The world clocks tool shows the live local time for any city from New York to Tokyo, London to Sydney. Add or remove cities to build your own world clock list.

What Is the Difference Between UTC and GMT?

UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), the modern time standard, is based on atomic clocks, while GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is a longitude-based time zone. The difference between them is less than a second, and both are used as the reference point for world time. Turkey is in the UTC+3 zone and this value does not change throughout the year.

Summer and Winter Time Practices

Some countries still observe Daylight Saving Time (DST) to save energy, while others, such as Turkey, keep the same time zone all year. The tool applies each city's summer and winter time changes automatically from the IANA database, so you don't need to adjust anything.

The International Date Line and Time Shift

The International Date Line, running through the middle of the Pacific Ocean, marks the full one-day difference between east and west. When you travel between countries or plan an international meeting, account for the time zone difference and any change of date.

How to Use

Adding and Removing Cities

Six default cities are shown when the page loads. Click Add City to choose from the full list of available cities. Use the × button on a city card to remove it from the list.

Real-Time Updates

All clocks update every second. In countries that observe daylight saving time, the displayed time changes with the season on its own.

World Time Zones

The world is divided into time zones ranging from UTC−12 to UTC+14. Turkey is in the UTC+3 zone and does not change year-round. The values below are standard time; places that observe daylight saving time move one hour ahead in summer (for example Denver, UTC−7, becomes UTC−6).

UTC−12 → UTC−8Baker Island, Los Angeles
UTC−7 → UTC−5Phoenix, Denver, Chicago, New York, Toronto
UTC−4 → UTC−3Caracas, São Paulo, Buenos Aires
