Measure Your Home's Net m² Step by Step

Work out your home's net square metres room by room. You enter each room separately and the tool shows your total net usable area. You need an accurate m² figure for flooring orders, renovation budgets, rental valuations and choosing air conditioning.

How to Use

Step by Step

  1. Select or type the room name for each room (Living Room, Kitchen, Bedroom, etc.).
  2. Set the shape: most rooms are rectangular; select the appropriate option for circular or square rooms.
  3. Enter the length and width in metres, measured from inner wall to inner wall.
  4. Add as many rooms as you need; the total updates as you go.

L-Shaped Rooms

Add irregular areas such as an L-shaped living room or hallway as two separate rectangles; the tool adds up the total.

Gross Area vs Net Area

In Turkey, title deeds are usually drawn up based on gross area. Gross area includes the outer walls, balcony, lift shaft and the share of common use areas. Net (usable) area is the actual living space measured from inner wall to inner wall, typically 15–20% smaller than the gross figure. The area you measure with this tool is always the net area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Gross area is the total building area measured from the outer face of the walls, including the balcony, shared spaces and wall thickness. Net (usable) area is the living space measured from inner wall to inner wall. The m² on a title deed is usually gross; the actual usable area can be 15-20% smaller.
