Quit Smoking Calculator

Enter your quit date, daily cigarettes and pack price to see your savings, smoke-free time and health milestones.

This tool is for information only and does not replace a doctor. If you want medical support to quit smoking, contact a healthcare provider.

Financial Savings Analysis

Enter your quit date, daily cigarette count and pack price, and the calculator works out three figures: smoke-free days, cigarettes avoided and money saved. You can put that money toward a hobby, a holiday or savings.

Health Timeline

Twenty minutes after your last cigarette, heart rate and blood pressure start to drop. After 8 hours, carbon monoxide in the blood falls by about half. After 1 year, the risk of coronary heart disease falls by about half. The calculator shows which of these milestones you have reached based on your quit date.

Time Gained: Years Added to Your Life

Each cigarette is estimated to cut about 11 minutes from life expectancy. On that assumption, someone smoking 20 cigarettes a day loses about 1.8 months of life expectancy each year: 20 × 11 min × 365 days = 80,300 minutes, or about 56 days. From the day you quit, lung capacity improves and physical fitness gets better.
