CTR (click-through rate) measures how well an ad or organic search result draws attention. If nobody clicks despite thousands of impressions, CTR stays low, which points to a problem with the targeting or the creative.
CTR Formula and Calculation Example
Divide clicks by impressions and multiply by 100. Example: an ad shown 10,000 times and clicked 250 times has a CTR of (250 ÷ 10,000) × 100 = 2.5%.
Why Does CTR Matter?
Platforms such as Google Ads and Facebook treat a high CTR as a sign of relevance. Ads with a high CTR get a higher Quality Score, which helps lower cost per click (CPC) and lifts the ad to higher positions.
How Do You Increase CTR in SEO and Ads?
In SEO, raise CTR by writing engaging meta titles and descriptions. In ads, eye-catching visuals, copy that sparks curiosity and clear call-to-action (CTA) buttons such as 'Buy Now' or 'Learn More' push click-through rates up.
